Reiki Healing
Reiki is Universal Life Energy
Reiki (pronounced ray-key) comes from two Japanese words: Rei, meaning “universal life”, and Ki, meaning “energy”. Ki corresponds to “Chi” in Chinese and “Prana” in Sanskrit.
When activated, Reiki supports healing on the body, mind and spirit by enhancing our natural ability to heal ourselves. The body is reminded of its capacity to recover from physical conditions and emotional issues, the mind is opened to the underlying causes of imbalance, and the spirit is encouraged to take responsibility for our wellbeing and the joy of living in harmony.
Reiki healing is an ancient practice now experiencing renewed interest worldwide. The method of channelling energy through the hands was rediscovered in the late 19th century by a Christian scholar, Dr Mikao Usui, in Japan, following many years of research into the healing practices of great spiritual teachers. The literal translation of Reiki is “soul power”.

Reiki Has Two Delivery Methods
Reiki – In-Person Healing
Reiki in person, is the hands-on or hands off method and is experienced as a powerful yet gentle flow of healing energy. Clients often feel warmth (or occasionally coolness) from the practitioner’s hands. Many people notice a deep sense of calm and a reduction in stress during and after a session. It is common for clients to fall asleep, waking with feelings of peace and tranquillity. Experiencing Reiki firsthand is the best way to understand this natural flow of healing energy.
Practitioners are not using their own personal energy. Instead, they channel Reiki from an unlimited universal source, meaning they do not become drained or depleted. In fact, both practitioner and recipient benefit from the energy being shared.
Reiki energy is spiritual in nature and cannot be forced, directed, or manipulated. It bypasses symptoms and works at the root cause, allowing true healing to occur. Reiki is based on the understanding that each person has an innate inner wisdom that knows what is needed for healing. It complements all other forms of healthcare and healing practices.
Reiki – Distance Healing
Reiki distance healing is the second method, also known as Absent Healing. Reiki Level II represents a journey of compassion and heart-centred healing. It allows the practitioner to send healing energy across distance, with the client’s permission. This form of Reiki can involve sensing, feeling, writing down impressions, and responding to the subtle communication of energy. Beyond logic or explanation, Reiki Level II often surprises and delights, revealing the practitioner’s natural healing abilities.
